GSMST GERMAN PROGRAM

ABOUT US

The German Program at the Gwinnett Schol of Mathematics, Science and Technology has been designated by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) as a German Center of Excellence in The United States of America. Our outstanding students have also been awarded for the Delta Epsilon Phi (ΔΕΦ) National Honor Society for High School Students of German. Lead by Herr Carlos Burse, our program features a rich course catalog, as well as extracurricular opportunities for students. The German language and culture courses in our program range from level 1 to level 4, all of which are taught in a full immersion environment designed around communication and collaboration. It is designed to engross students in the German language and its culture, with students at Level 2 and above speaking solely speak in the targeted language, German. Regarding the extracurricular opportunities for students, our program includes a German club, which enables students to celebrate German culture in an interactive, engaging way, as well as a National German Honor Society (NGHS), whose members are not only excellent students but also socially and environmentally engaged activists who offer tutoring services, participate in local service projects and advertising ways to live more environmentally friendly. In addition, our program offers the National German Exam, the AP German exam, and participate in the German State Convention.

Planting Plants

Accomplishments

Our German Program has dedicated our time teaching both students in the German Program and our school German culture and giving back to the community. Recently, the National German Honors Society has planted trees to spread awareness for our environment and advertise green living. Virtually, we have posted on our social media new vocabulary and German celebrations to educate others about German lifestyles, including language and culture. Furthermore, on our website we offer tutoring videos and extracurriculars for students not directly involved in the German Program such as German Club.
