ANNOUCEMENTS

Due to COVID-19, Stammtisch events will be continuing virtually on Zoom. If you are interesting in participating, email Herr Burse or look at his announcements on Eclass for future meeting updates. These are held either once or twice a month, so be sure to check out for those!

Stammtisch, a routine gathering open to both German and non-German students, is an opportunity to decompress after a long week of chalk full of assignments and exams. Before Coronavirus necessitated the suspension, reduction, and discontinuance of in person gatherings, Stammtisch was conducted in Herr Carlos Burse’s classroom every other Friday afternoon after the school day ended.

Stammtisch roughly translates to a table reserved for regulars, and, as such, it is intended to be an inviting place that one can visit regularly in order to have fun and learn or practice German. While it is not currently feasible to conduct Stammtisch in person, our German program still wishes to preserve its good will.

For the time being, Stammtisch will be conducted through the use of Zoom. Attendees will be able to play games such as Among Us, Heads Up, and Skribble.io online together, all while improving their German skills by speaking German with their peers. If you are interested, please email Herr Burse, or if you are enrolled one of his German classes, look out for his announcements on eClass for information about future meetingd. Looking forward to having you there!

What people say about Stammtisch...

— Dimitri C., Senior 2021

"I like Stammtisch. We play fun games and talking to people in German about things that aren't directly related to class is enjoyable."
